Insulation in general
There’s no such thing as over-insulation! Don’t be misled by rumours suggesting that you can over-insulate your home or that insulation can cause condensation resulting in fungus growth. Such statements are untrue, because there’s no such thing as over-insulation! In well-insulated areas, you won’t find moisture and fungus. However, you will find it in areas that aren’t well- insulated!
Consciously ventilating a well-insulated home
The ‘natural’ ventilation in your home decreases due to insulation. It is thus necessary to consciously ventilate a well-insulated home. Insulating is about more than simply stuffing insulation into a cavity. It is something that we at Ratering Insulation deal with every day.
A few examples of possible insulation options in a home are:
- Floor insulation (crawl space)
- Cavity wall insulation
- Roof insulation
- Outer wall insulation (new build)
Careful execution and correct positioning are necessary in order to prevent unacceptable air leaks, temperature fluctuations, condensation and so-called cold bridges.
